Beach Patrols

Over the peak Summer holiday period, a combination of volunteer and professional lifeguards patrol at Woolamai Beach as well as the popular un-patrolled 'family' beaches at Smiths Beach and Cowes.
NOTE: Always SWIM BETWEEN THE FLAGS at a patrolled beach.
The patrolling Season for lifesavers commences on Saturday 28 November 2009 and ends on Monday 5 April 2010. (Please note that the patrol times listed below may change subject to weather conditions, and that lifesavers are only on duty when the red and yellow flags are displayed).
The patrol dates and times for Summer 2009/2010 are listed below:

| Cowes (Melways Ref: 634 D1) Cowes Beach is the north facing beach on Phillip Island and is supervised by Professional Lifeguards based at the Woolamai Beach SLSC. Cowes is the hub of Phillip Island and is a sheltered beach in Westernport Bay. |

| Smiths Beach (Melways Ref: 633 B10) Smiths Beach offers a usually gentle surf with strong rips, more suitable for families and younger surfers. It is supervised by Professional Lifeguards based at the Woolamai Beach SLSC. |
