Nippers Program for 2013/14
Over 10,000 young Victorians are actively involved in Nippers programs across the State. Over 300 children participate in the Woolamai Beach Surf Life Saving Club Nippers program. In a fun environment, children meet new friends and learn water safety and survival skills.
The Nippers program provides a point of entry into the surf life saving movement whilst promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
A typical morning in the program would see the children doing warm up exercises, playing beach games, running, competing in beach flag competitions, swimming, board paddling, engaging in simulated rescues, watching rescue demonstrations, engaging in surf awareness/sunsmart activities and learning about local environmental issues.
The Nippers program also includes other fun activities including a competition day, a kids movie night and an award presentation afternoon. Parents are also kept busy helping deliver the program.
